wow, the silent version is pretty impressive. I'm decent at US geography and at drawing, but you wouldn't catch me drawing the country from memory in public! was there a real map on the page below? the indentations of a previous page?
I thought the same thing when I first saw this - that it had to be a trick. Apparently there are other example of Franken doing this, and he is really that good. I can name all the states and put them in the correct locations, but I could not come close to drawing the correct shapes and proportions.
